Survey
Water Efficiency is an ever
growing issue, from green conservation through
to the simple aim of saving money.
Waterlink can
survey your property to investigate areas
which could prove to yield significant savings
to your water bill if action is taken.
This is done by:
|
Assessing
water fittings and plumbing appliances
for water efficiency |
|
Checking internal
pipe work |
|
Checking water use
associated with grounds maintenance |
|
Checking for leaks
on underground pipes |
|
Water bill comparisons
and meter readings |
|
Investigating normal
house keeping practices |
Solutions
After surveying a property
Waterlink can provide a range
of solutions that fit your particular needs.
They will help you reduce the amount of water
used and thus save money and a precious resource.
Urinal controls
Constantly flushing urinals
are pouring water and money down the drain
and can be your highest water waster. Infra
red controls are easy to install and mean
that the urinals will only flush when required
to. It will also mean that the urinals are
not constantly wasting water at the weekends.
Waterless urinals
As their name implies,
they do not use any water but rely on special
deodorising inserts which are changed periodically.
However, there is an ongoing maintenance
cost, but they can be cost effective in
areas of high usage.
Water efficient toilets
Older cisterns can use
up to 9 litres of water per flush but the
modern ones must use no more than 6 litres.
Dual flush toilets can use even less water.
Push top taps
These are known as percussion
taps and can be adjusted to the required
duration of water flow - six seconds is
all that is normally required. After that
time they close automatically, which will
also eliminate the risk of flooding from
taps left running. These taps can be supplied
as cost effective retrofit kits, which simply
fit into the existing tap.
Tap inserts
These are fitted into the
existing taps to change the flow pattern
to a 'spray' which will reduce the volume
of water used. They are cost effective but
may not be suitable for all taps.
Flow restricting
valves
These are valves which
are fitted to the pipes leading to the taps
on the basin and can be adjusted to the
required flow. They are also isolating valves
which allow tap maintenance without turning
off the water supply.
Shower push button
controls
A push button control on
showers will limit the flow from the shower
to the duration required, reducing unnecessary
water use.
Shower flow restriction
There are showerheads on
the market which reduce flow to below 10
litres/minute but still give a good performance.
Water butts
If the property has
any grounds, water butts can significantly
reduce water use.
